Classic margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Blanco tequila
  • 1 oz Orange liqueur (Cointreau or Grand Marnier)
  • 1 oz Freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 whole lime)
  • (1/2) oz Agave syrup or simple syrup (optional, if you prefer it sweeter)
  • Ice
  • Coarse kosher salt and a lime wedge (for the rim

  • Cooking Instructions

  • Prep the Glass: Rub the rim of your glass with a lime wedge. Dip the damp rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt.
  • Combine: Add the tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, and agave (if using) into a cocktail shaker.
  • Shake: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds to chill the drink properly.
  • Serve: Strain into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
